Homeschool Specific Information

Below is brief summary of the homeschooling law in Nebraska. Compulsory School Age Six to eighteen. (See detailed summary for exceptions).   Nebraska Legal Home Schooling Options:  1     Option: 1   Legal Option:   Establish and operate a home school as a private school   Attendance:   1,032 hours per year for elementary grades, 1,080 hours per year for high school grades   Subjects:   Language arts, math, science, social studies, and health   Qualifications:   None, unless the teacher is "employed" by the family   Notice:   File an annual notice of intent with the state commissioner of education by August 1 (or 30 days prior to the start of home school)   Recordkeeping:   None   Testing:   None     © 2007, HSLDA NOTE: This summary is not intended to be, and does not constitute, the giving of legal advice.
